Laid to Rest Chrome Skull UPDATED AUGUST 2014

Another project i have been working on this Autumn has been a sculpture based on the mask used in the Laid to Rest films. This was the first free hand sculpture i had done and while i concede it is not 100% screen accurate i am happy with the final product.
Here are some progress pictures below of the stages of build up i went through, probably not the traditional way of sculpting but i found it easier building up the layers rather than molding into the clay.
Again i plan to have the mask available for commission early 2013.

After finishing other other projects i returned to the chrome skull sculpt and decided it was too large to wear and have a screen accurate look so i made the decision to re-sculpt the mask to a smaller scale.

After many weeks of adjustments i came as close as i can to reproducing the mask. Here are some pictures of the final sculpture.

I will be making a master mold in the coming weeks and will update this blog when i have a finished mask.
